James Antwi Adjei is a Banker and a Certified Chartered Credit Management Practitioner and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management Ghana with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Sheffield Hallam University UK). He started his tertiary education in Kumasi Polytechnic where he studied Electrical/Electronic Engineering with major in Power Engineering. Whiles at the Polytechnic he was also pursuing a degree in Mathematics. From 1999 to 2004 he had completed both tertiary courses with 2nd Class Upper each. He has 16 years working experience in the credit industry (Cooperate Loans, SME Loans and Trade financing, individual loans) and banking operations with key strength in area of financial services management as well as Sales and Marketing.

These rare combinations of abilities made him an Excellent Marketing Executive when he worked for Unique Trust (UT) Financial Services at the early stages of his career as a Marketing Executive. Due to his solid background in leadership, strategy for change, sales and provision of excellent customer service coupled with possessing a convincing track record of working in a multicultural environment and excellent Sales and Relationship Management skills, he was transferred to UT Financial Services GmBH in Germany. His eloquence in languages such as French, German and English coupled with his natural good interpersonal and communication skills was a good asset to the company when he served as brand Ambassador in Europe, organizing sales trip in European countries to introduce UT products and services.

At the stages where the company was gaining its feet, James was very instrumental in the ideas such as “the implementation of effective debt recovery strategies to achieve a competitive advantage in the credit industry” which was also the topic of his thesis during his Master’s degree education in Business Administration at Sheffield Hallam University UK.

He also worked as a Credit Manager, Ag. Head of Transport for the parent Company UT holdings, Branch Manager and later become the Cluster Business Manager of UT Bank overseeing the branches in Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and the Northern Regions. When GCB took over UT Bank and realizing his potentials, the bank also appointed him as the Business Development Manager in the Kumasi zone, overseeing the business development activities of about 24 branches with a total portfolio of over Ghs800 million.

James is very dynamic with experience in diverse job specifications; results oriented and with multiple academic and professional achievements and notable amongst them are:

 

  • Turning loss making branches to profitable ones resulting in the whole cluster making profit.
  • Restructuring the whole transport department of the holdings company for efficiency which was evident in their service delivery.
  • Faculty of Organisation and Management Prize for Outstanding Achievement Postgraduate Division of Business and Management 2008. (Sheffield Hallam University)
  • Excellent Customer Service Advisor for O2 Upgrades Department for October 2008, Ventura UK

 

James Antwi – Adjei is currently the president and Executive chairman of Super Steps Group LTD.  The company is into multiple business ventures such as production and sale of security and safety boots for the police, military, fire service, immigration services, construction and mining companies. The company is also into Commodities, Procurement, Brokerage, Software security services, Financial Services, Agribusiness, Construction (buildings, roads and civil works), Electrical/Electronic engineering, etc.

As a corporate social responsibility, the company employs an appreciable number of Persons with Disabilities. James is also Patron for We Rise Foundation, An NGO that advocates for persons with Disabilities. .

He developed the passion for business in a tender age when he will sell anything he could lay his hands on; including soaps, T shirts, wrist watches and many others  to support  himself in school. In the University, he established a German language school known as Jacques’ Institute Fur Fremdsprachen, where he was teaching fellow student’s beginner level German language course. Through that quite a number of his students went to further their education in Germany and others too gained the opportunity to do their internships in Germany through AISTEE.

He believes he developed this passion from childhood which has made him who he is now. The ability to communicate confidently to different kinds of people from different backgrounds, level of education and thoughts gives him a competitive advantage over his peers. He believes that businesses can only have a firm foundation when built on honesty, integrity, persistence and hard work.
